If you do, you'll erase the battlers folder and crash at your very first battle since it can't properly render mons. When installing a Patch be sure not to overwrite the entirety of the graphics folder. Yes, via WINE or Virtual Machine/Windows Emulator. No official support. The patch HAS to overwrite files in order to take effect.
When you get asked to overwrite files, click 'yes' to all and the installation was successful. This process may take a while, wait for it to finish. Right click the 'Main Game' file and click "Extract here". (Where you place it on your PC doesn't matter as long as you remember where it is. Recommended installation procedure: Follow the Download pages' description about which files you need to download, usually a 'Full Game' and sometimes a 'Patch' file. Create a new folder with directory and name of your choice and move the downloaded files into this newly created folder.
